Twelve years after building a meeting room for the Barn Owl Trust charity, we were delighted to be asked to return and dismantle their aged office spaces and rebuild a new energy-efficient office building for them.

The brief was to replace the cold and dark offices with a new energy-efficient office building including a new kitchen area and staff bathrooms.  The building was timber-frame with a bespoke concrete pad and steel foundation to minimise digging on the sensitive site.  We used wood-fibre insulation and finished with larch cladding and Sarnafil roof.  A new air-source heat pump was installed along with underfloor heating.  The result was a transformation for the staff, with the provision of warm, cosy and light spaces to work in.
